An Idea Becomes Reality
A special design contest was held in 2007 as part of Tamiya's Mini 4WD 25th Anniversary Project. Legions of Mini 4WD fans throughout Japan took this unique opportunity to submit their designs. In the end, the Savanna Leo, penned by 22 year-old Hidemasa Komatsu was chosen as the winner. Like other Mini 4WD PRO machines, the Savanna Leo features a 3-piece chassis with nose, center, and tail sections for easy assembly. Double shaft motor drives all 4 wheels and is located at the center of the chassis with 1 battery on each side, giving the chassis excellent balance. With its stylish rear wing and large diameter wheels with slick tires, and 4:1 gear ratio, the Savanna Leo fits the image of a lion running through the plains.
